Oginome Yoko (荻野目洋子) is a Japanese pop singer, actress and former voice actress.

History[]

Oginome got her start in the entertainment industry in 1982 as a member of the CBS/Sony pop trio Milk under the stage name "Rumi." She was an elementary schooler at the time. Milk disbanded in 1983 and Oginome entered middle school which allowed her to audition for more roles. She made her debut as a voice actress in the 1983 anime Miyuki as the main character, Wakamatsu Miyuki. She made her solo debut under Victor Entertainment in 1984. She achieved moderate success as an idol singer.

In 1985, Oginome released her seventh single Dancing Hero 「Eat You Up」, a cover of a British electronic song by Angie Gold. The song had a very unique sound compared to other idol music at the time, and Oginome's energetic dance performances and colorful costumes were very well received by the public. She soon became one of the most talked about idols of the mid-1980s.

After her singing career took off she retired from voice acting to focus on on-screen acting, and she landed many main character roles. She also became a popular radio and television show host which she still continues today.
