Ota Takako (太田貴子) is a Japanese voice actress and singer.

History[]

Ota was scouted after she appeared on the talent show television program Star Tanjou! in 1982. She did not win the contest, but she was scouted by Tokuma Productions regardless. In an extremely unusual move, her production staff decided to have her make her debut as an idol and a voice actress at the same time. She would provide the singing and speaking voice of the main character of the upcoming anime Creamy Mami the Magical Angel who was also an idol.

She debuted to good success as the anime became quite popular. Following the anime's conclusion, she began to host television shows. In 1985, she decided to move away from her image as an idol and try out rock music. In 1989 she changed labels from Tokuma Japan to NEC Avenue.

In 1994 she announced that she would be retiring from entertainment. However, four years later she appeared as a guest speaker at Studio Pierrot's 20th Anniversary event and announced her return to entertainment, and she has been active ever since.
